From design best practices to what to include on your card, this article covers all the bases, including critiques of several from industry peeps like Ed Burgess’ (Weekend Warrior Promotional Products, asi/356446) poker chip card (at right)! Read this article now, and in the meantime here are 11 Business Card “Don’ts” - enjoy!

  • Don’t use see-through or clear business cards.
  • Don’t use free cards that have the name of the printing company stamped on the back.
  • Don’t use outdated pictures of yourself. 
  • Don’t use generic clip art.
  • Don’t use fill-in-the-blank cards. 
  • Don’t use too many different fonts. 
  • Don’t use fonts that are too small. 
  • Don’t use strongly contrasting colors. 
  • Don’t use a popular e-mail domain name.
  • Don’t forget to include a slogan or something that indicates the nature of your business.
  • Don’t forget to carefully proofread your card.
